An Ethnography of Mobile Professionals
With more and more professionals working remotely via wireless connections and
mobile devices, Adobe Systems Inc. wanted a deeper understanding of the challenges
Mobile Professionals face in their work. Context Research designed and conducted
a global ethnographic program to explore how Mobile Professionals work to help
Adobe develop new products and services for this complex, but growing market.
With our eyes set on unearthing opportunity spaces for Adobe, a team of Context
anthropologists around the globe conducted observations and interviews with Mobile
Professionals in their everyday lives. Our observations captured mobile technology
behavior on trains, in airports, in cafés and in other high-usage areas
to understand user contexts and practices.
Our analysis of Mobile Professional behavior helped Adobe understand the key
issues for designing products and services for this market, while suggesting
opportunities to better reach this mobile audience.

Context Consumer Insights provides a lens into consumer behavior based on our ethnographic research. This year, we cover the Grounded Consumer. We will identify key pieces that comprise this insight, illustrate examples from the marketplace and offer recommendations on what to do with this information from a marketing and product development standpoint.
